Each month the Co-op’s Register Round Up program gives shoppers the opportunity to support local non-profits by rounding up their total to the nearest dollar. Since the program was established in April 2013, co-op shoppers have donated more than $200,000 by rounding up at the register!

This year, we received 23 applications for the Register Round Up program. Each application was carefully reviewed and evaluated with consideration for how the funds would be used, the communities served by each organization, and how the organization’s work aligned with the East End Food Co-op’s ends statement. Member input received in our bi-annual survey was also considered.

A collaborative effort between all Front End staff, Marketing & Member Services, and our General Manager yielded the 2021 Register Round Up recipients. Three grants of $750 each were also awarded to runners-up: Grow Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh Food Policy Council, and Grounded Strategies. The grant money came from The Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) also known as “Give Where You Live,” an endowment fund sponsored by Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation.

This year’s Register Round Up recipients are dedicated to improving food access, the environment, youth development, community engagement, diversity, sustainable agriculture, the arts, and more. Thank you for continuing to support this program each month by rounding up at the register!
