Minted Raspberry Hibiscus Agua Fresca

A refreshing twist on traditional agua fresca, this simple drink utilizes rose hips and hibiscus with delightful summer fruit and fresh mint for a sensational and delicious beverage. Rose hip and hibiscus are known for their calming qualities and may help lower blood pressure.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves coarsely chopped
  • 3 TBS rose hips
  • 3 TBS hibiscus tea leaves
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbs fresh lemon juice
  • 8 mint springs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 8 cups of water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add raspberries, mint, rose hips, and hibiscus tea leaves (use a loose leaf tea bag or strainer for rose hips and hibiscus tea leaves or leave them loose if you plan to strain this mixture through cheesecloth)

  2. Let mixture stand at room temperature for 1 hour.

  3. Strain mixture through a sieve, strainer, or cheese cloth, reserving liquid. Discard solids.

  4. Add sugar and lemon juice to tea, stirring until sugar dissolves.

  5. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint springs.
